MYdeposits Survey findings

It seems like everyman and his dog is undertaking surveys these days. The latest is an attempt by mydeposits and Ome. The former is an English tenancy deposit protection scheme provider and the latter appears to be a sister company that offers a deposit replacement service. The survey findings should be treated with a pinch of salt due to an absence of methodological data and the existence of a clear marketing agenda. Having said that, I am going to break my own rules to cherry pick and share some juicy looking stats :-).

Stat 1- Tenants on average rate their relationship with their landlord as 7.4 out of 10.
The survey designers equate this relatively high score with a high approval rating. Whilst the two things clearly differ, the findings do appear to add some weight to my previous assertions that in the main, landlords and tenants do not have poor relationships.
Stat 2- 90% of landlords and agents do not feel the government supports the PRS.
This is hardly surprising, particularly given COVID-19 as a backdrop. However, this again reinforces my view, that existing government policy fails landlords. It seems commonsensical to note that if policy makers want the sector to improve and want landlords to pick up the slack in social housing provision, that they need to implement policy's that support landlords!
There are some other interesting comments on value for money and the sectors fitness for purpose, which you can read here....
